Heat is what decides how many months a year you actually use the space. A patio without it is a four-month amenity in Montana. Add a fire pit and an overhead heater and the same patio works into November, then again in March.

The choice that trips people up is fuel. Gas is convenient and always ready. Wood is the one people picture when they imagine sitting outside. Propane goes where a gas line will not.

If you go with gas, you have two options and we are happy either way. We can bring in a plumber as a subcontractor and coordinate the schedule, or you can hire your own and we will give them the specifications ahead of time. Worth deciding early either way, because running a line is a much simpler job before the pavers go down than after.
